Most notably known for her “Critically Acclaimed” debut album Complex Simplicity, which spawned records Be Your Girl, Backstroke and Take Me featuring Raphael Saadiq, Teedra Moses has quietly built a brand that's proven it can stand the test of time.
Independent of major labels, management, or PR machines, Moses has cultivated a loyal global following, selling out venues around the world for two decades. With only two commercial albums released, Complex Simplicity (2004) and Cognac & Conversation (2015), her catalog of all-original mixtapes, combined with her unmistakable live presence has kept her fan base thriving in the years between projects.
As a Grammy-Nominated Songwriter and two-time Song of the Year BMI Award recipient, Moses not only pens all her own lyrics, but has written songs for other artists including Mary J. Blige, Raphael Saadiq, Trina, Kelly Rowland, Macy Gray, and many others. She’s featured with Rick Ross on multiple albums, writing melodic hooks and soulfully coloring tracks with her vocal ambiance on records such as Vegas Residency, Amsterdam, Nobody, Lamborghini Doors. Her versatility has also led to collaborations with Kaytranada on Culture from his Grammy Award-winning album Bubba, and Black Love with Salaam Remi and D-Nice from Black on Purpose. In addition, her music has been featured in staple HBO hit shows like Insecure and Entourage, showcased on Twitch, Adult Swim, and multiple motion pictures.
From 2004 to present, the New Orleans native has honed her artistry while maintaining the gritty, New Orleans fervor in her music. Most recently, Moses celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Complex Simplicity with a sold-out tour and special tributes to the landmark album. To highlight the career milestone, Moses made an NPR Tiny Desk debut which showcased her timeless voice and artistry. As a final tribute to the Anniversary celebration, Moses released Complex Simplicity (Reimagined), a version of her debut featuring new production and guest features from friends of her music along with a now viral A COLORS SHOW performance.
