What is 3D secure and how does it work?
Basically, the credit card holder is assigned a secret password, to ensure that only they alone can make payments with the card. With 3-D Secure, it is impossible to make a payment using the only the data on credit card itself. The secret password is known only to the credit card holder and the bank and it must be entered into the bank's online interface when making an order – thereby excluding the possibility of password theft by so-called “phishing”.
The first time you pay with your credit card using 3-D Secure, you will be prompted to enter your secret password into the bank’s interface. Afterwards you then use this password for future purchases using the 3-D Secure credit card payment.
3-D Secure is free of charge for you as a credit card user. Further information can be obtained from your bank.
