Reminiscent of the nebulous era of neon-noir, Alan Vuong's nu-psychdelic tinted brand of r&b sounds effortlessly excellent. He cares less about weaving genres–though he is certainly masterful at doing so–alan vuong attempts to capture feelings that persist through past, present and future. Whether it is unrequited love, a fading illusion, flickering hope or an unflinching desire, he has the ability to paint just the right sonic dreamscape, that feeling of well, sometimes, it just doesn’t work out.
Always referencing his roots in Soundcloud-era rap and R&B, with sparing and intentional uses of synth wave, this new era of alan vuong is avidly more psychedelic and indie-inspired. His upcoming EP, HEAVEN SENT ME, sounds undeniably Southern California.
