Field of Fear
Scorpion, the latest release from Oakland-based band Field of Fear, fuses their signature drone soundscapes with dusty southern gothic guitars for a songwriting-focused concept album that lives somewhere between the worlds of David Lynch and Flannery O’Conner. Think a sunbleached landscape of endless highways and forgotten towns with an undeniable pop sensibility among the heaviness, where the central character of the album is forced to reckon with the worst parts of himself.
