Christopher Hoffman: REX
Christopher Hoffman is a cellist, composer, and improviser whose work spans jazz, contemporary classical, and experimental music. Based in New York, he has collaborated with Henry Threadgill, Martin Scorsese, and Yoko Ono.
On acoustic and electric 5-string cello, Hoffman blends extended techniques, live processing, and tactile sound to craft immersive, narrative driven solo performances. His latest release, REX, distills this approach into a focused, expressive set of compositions that blur the line between structure and improvisation.
