Sydney 2-piece Party Dozen are taking a night off from supporting Amyl & The Sniffers in the big rooms to do a headline in a small room.
Party Dozen is Kirsty Tickle (saxophone) and Jonathan Boulet (percussion and sampler), a semi-improvised psych noise band from Sydney. Over the course of four albums they have gone from underground Sydney punks to globetrotting Sydney punks, featuring on festival bills across multiple continents and having guests such as Nick Cave and billy woods provide vocals on their tracks, released on labels like Sub Pop, Temporary Residence and City Slang.
Regarded as one of the finest live bands in Australia, PD has toured with the likes of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Tropical Fuck Storm, Lambrini Girls and Viagra Boys, holding their own with a brutal mix of punk, psychedelia, jazz and the feeling of being thrown headfirst down a flight of stairs then having a full drum kit thrown after you. Jonathan pounds the drums like he's punishing them for the sins of all humanity while Kirsty screams into the bell of her saxophone, her wails reshaped by a bank of effects pedals into a massive sonic fist that swings from the speakers and smacks your gob. It's gobsmacking stuff.
"They're the coolest band" - Henry Rollins
"Party Dozen are a force of nature" - Nick Cave
