Sam Shackleton brings the living tradition of Scottish and Celtic song to Hernando’s Hideaway on Saturday, May 23 at 8PM.
Born in Stirling and raised from the Borders to the Highlands, Sam’s music is steeped in the rich oral traditions of Scotland, Ireland, and the American South. Influenced by the 1960s folk revival, his sound weaves together country, old-time, traditional balladry, and blues - anchored by a distinctly Scottish spirit.
Beyond the stage, Sam is a scholar of the tradition he performs. Holding a research master’s degree with distinction in Scottish Ethnology from the School of Scottish Studies, he approaches folk music not as nostalgia, but as a living, breathing current - a carrying stream that connects generations.
Intimate. Story-driven. Deeply rooted.
Join us for a night of songs that have traveled centuries and still feel right at home in Memphis.
