Tacoma’s getting a seriously strong night of forward-thinking independent music as s.e.s. presents brings Unwed Sailor, Assertion, and High Priors to Airport Tavern Music Hall.
A longtime independent promoter in the Pacific Northwest, s.e.s. presents has been helping bring underground and alternative shows through Tacoma since 2001.
Headlining the night is Unwed Sailor, the long-running project led by Johnathon Ford, known for crafting expansive instrumental music that blends post-rock, dream pop, and ambient atmosphere into something cinematic, emotional, and deeply immersive. The band has been active since 1998, with Ford steering its sound through years of acclaimed releases and touring.
Also on the bill is Assertion, the Pacific Northwest band formed by William Goldsmith of Sunny Day Real Estate, The Fire Theft, and Foo Fighters alongside Justin Tamminga. Their music carries a raw, urgent alternative rock energy that feels both personal and powerful, with the kind of weight and honesty that hits hard live.
Opening the night is High Priors from Seattle, Washington, a group pulling from the DIY side of the Northwest and bringing sharp hooks and underground energy that makes them a strong fit for this lineup.
