Al Smith has successfully built a sophisticated, specialized following, appearing regularly in New York City and the Tri-State areas, proving time & again how venues have much to gain offering a happy hour, supper club, concert and inter-active live format to entertain guests. Regular repeat engagements become the standard offering by most venues, as Al is a consummate crowd-pleaser.
Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger, Al has toured with The Commodores (Lionel Richie’s band), Chaka Khan & Rufus, Teddy Pendergras, and the great James Brown, among many others. Recently, he isn’t in talks with the remaining Jimi Hendrix band members for a final legacy project.
As a solo artist creating his own tracks and playing his specialized midi-guitar, Al is a one-man band, seamlessly adapting his stylized act to fit any circumstance and type of venue, from clubs and theatres to festivals. Known for being a bridge connecting country, classic rock & soul of the ‘70’s & ‘80’s with today’s eclectic music landscape, Al’s personal music crusade is to pay homage to the classic soul, rhythm & blues genre by introducing it to new audience legions in ways that transcend gender, race and the generational divide. People of all ages relate to the warmth and sincerity generated by this engaging talent, and quite often audience-participation becomes the norm. Al Smith generates joyful exuberance with every soulful note.
