Airport Tavern Music Hall — Tacoma, WA
6PM Doors | 7PM Show | All Ages
One of the Pacific Northwest’s most celebrated voices in blues, soul and R&B is coming back to Airport Tavern Music Hall.
Curtis Salgado has spent more than five decades delivering a powerhouse mix of blues, soul, funk, gospel and R&B, earning 14 Blues Music Awards, including the prestigious B.B. King Entertainer of the Year award. His commanding voice, harmonica playing and sharp songwriting have made him a fixture of the American roots music world.
Salgado’s history runs deep. He spent six years singing with The Robert Cray Band, later fronted Roomful of Blues, and has performed and toured alongside artists including Bonnie Raitt, Steve Miller, Santana and Albert Collins.
He also played an unexpected role in music and movie history. While John Belushi was filming Animal House in Eugene in 1977, Belushi became friends with Salgado and spent hours learning about blues and R&B from his record collection. That musical education helped inspire Belushi’s creation of The Blues Brothers, whose debut album was later dedicated to Curtis.
Now touring behind Legacy Rewind: Live in ’25, recorded at Seattle’s Triple Door with a 15-piece band, Salgado continues doing what he’s done for fifty years: bringing serious soul, deep grooves and one massive voice to the stage.
This is a chance to catch a true Northwest music institution live in Tacoma.
