DAN DECTIS
Hello! I'm a San Francisco-based musician, educator, and community builder. I believe in the power of music to bring us together. As Kurt Vonnegut said, "the arts are a very human way to make life more bearable".
I'm here to bring more music into more people's lives. Does that idea resonate with you? Awesome. Drop me a line. I'd love to hear all about your experiences with music and togetherness.
Performer
Catch me playing all over the SF Bay Area with Mesa Trio, Mangobus, Solo or playing alto in a jazz combo.
Every weekend in Golden Gate Park, I host the Community Music HangoutCome on out and join in!
Every Monday from 6-9 I host an open jazz jam at Waystone wine bar in North Beach. We play standards and welcome players of all levels!
Music Educator
Let's take your musical journey to the next level. Let's tackle your musical goals together in a friendly, supportive environment. Let's remember that the verb for making music is "PLAY" not "WORK. Music education should be fun!
I teach a broad range of topics across piano, guitar, saxophone, bass, and voice. Together we can enhance and explore your joyful self-expression through music.
Commuity Organizer
For the last few years, I have been building community through music. In November 2022, I created the Community Music Hangout. The CMH is a weekly social music gathering based at a public piano found in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Since then, I have hosted over 100 gatherings and brought together hundreds of performers for an impromptu musical romp.
The Hangout turns strangers into musical friends. We provide a safe space for folks to play together, to push their musical boundaries, and feel good about their efforts. And I take that mission very seriously.
