ABOUT:
Two-time Grammy Award-winning violinist Mads Tolling is a former member of Turtle Island Quartet, Stanley Clarke’s Band, and he most recently performed with Bob Weir & Wolf Bros. Mads is known for his vibrant blend of jazz, folk, and classical music, and with his violin he doesn’t shy away from getting down with the grooves of funk and R&B as well. This evening, he joins forces with Italian guitar master Peppino D’Agostino, celebrated for his poetic fingerstyle technique and innovative compositions. Peppino has recorded nineteen albums, performed in over thirty-nine countries and international festivals and concert halls. Guitar Player listed him as one of the 50 best acoustic guitarists of all time.
For only their third appearance together, Mads and Peppino journey across genres and continents. The program features original works from both artists alongside inspired interpretations of classics—from Django Reinhardt and Astor Piazzolla to Ray Charles and The Beatles. Each piece highlights the duo’s shared passion for melody and improvisation, weaving violin and guitar into a dialogue of lyricism and improvisation. Expect moments of dazzling virtuosity, tender reflection, and joyful spontaneity as Tolling’s jazz-infused bowing meets D’Agostino’s percussive harmonics and lush chordal landscapes. Together, they create a sound both intimate and cinematic—where every note tells a story.
Join us in celebrating two masters at the height of their craft, uniting strings and spirits in a performance that transcends boundaries and speaks the universal language of music.
